Objective To measure the levels and identify the associated factors of job satisfaction among medical staff in intensive care units(ICU)in Shanghai secondary and tertiary public hospitals. Methods By convenience sam-pling method,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 570 ICU medical staff in Shanghai secondary and tertiary public hospitals with Minnesota Satisfaction Scale. The influencing factors were analyzed by multiple linear regression. Results The overall satisfaction of ICU medical staff in Shanghai secondary and tertiary public hospitals was(3.75±0.73)points,and the internal satisfaction was higher than the external satisfaction.Daily working duration was the factor that affected the internal satisfaction, external satisfaction and overall satisfaction of ICU medical staff, and the longer the daily working hours, the lower the satisfaction.Practice motivation had an impact on the external satisfaction and o-verall satisfaction of ICU medical staff.Compared with those who thought"good career development prospects",the ex-ternal satisfaction and overall satisfaction of ICU medical staff who"passively or blindly choose a career"were lower. Conclusion The job satisfaction of ICU medical staff in Shanghai secondary and tertiary public hospitals was above the medium level. It is suggested to build an integrated platform for intensive care treatment in the hospital and a smart mo-nitoring network for critical care to improve the efficiency of critical care treatment and relieve the work pressure of medi-cal staff.Furthermore, with reference to the training ideas of talents in short supply, the feasible plan to open the major of critical care medicine in medical colleges and universities is explored, and a special subsidy support project for stand-ardized training of intensive care physicians is set up to enhance the enthusiasm of medical students to engage in critical care medicine.
