Relationship between homocysteine levels and acute cerebral infarction
Objective To investigate the relationship of serum homocysteine (Hey) levels and acute cerebral infarction. Methods Case control study methods was used in the text. The homocysteine concentration was detect in 85 cases of acute cerebral infarction and 49 healthy persons. Bbody mass index .clinical and biochemical indicators were also measured. Results Hey levels in patients with acute cerebral infarction[(23. 96±1. 22) μmol/L] were significantly higher than the control[( 15. 07±0. 50) /imol/L] (P<0. 05). Systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, blood glucose levels in acute cerebral infarction group were also significantly higher than the control(P<0.05). But these were not related to homocysteine levels. Conclusion Homocysteine is an independent risk factor for cerebral infarction, which may be a new target for early intervention and treatment of cerebral infarction.
