Relationship between matrix metalloproteinase-2, testosterone(TES),estradiol and hyperlipidemia and carotid atherosclerosis
Objective To explore the correlation between matrix metalloproteinase-2,testosterone(TES),estradiol and hyperlipidemia and carotid atherosclerosis. Methods 146 patients were investigated and divided into three group:by the nature of ultrasonography of carotid atherosclerosis plaque and blood lipids levels: hyperlipaemia with plaque group(group A) 45 cases, hyperlipaemia without plaque group(group B) 41 cases, normal lipidemia group(group C) 60 cases. Color Doppler Ultrasonography was performed to detect the level of carotid intima - media thickness (IMT). ELIEA was uses to evaluated serum MMP-2 and CLIA was used to evaluatged serlon TES and estradid. Serum TES and estradiol were evaluated using Chemiluminescence Immunoassay(CLIA). Resnlls Serum MMP-2 concentration were significantly elevated in group A,comparing with that in group B and C(P<0.05),but there was no statistical difference between group B and C. The concentration of serum TES and estradiol in group A were lower than that in group B and C,and the concentration in group B was lower than that in group C as well. In addition, the concentration of serum TES and estradiol reflected dramatic statistical difference in three groups( P<0. 05). To sum up,the concentration of serum MMP-2 had a negative relation to that of TES and estradiol in A and B group(r= - 0.597 ,P<0.01 in group A and r=- 0. 622, P<0. 05 in group B). Conclusion The concentration of serum MMP-2,TES and estradiol has a relation to hyperlipaemia and carotid atherosclerosis.
