Study on genotyped diagnosis and adverse transfusion reaction in children with severe β Thalassema
Objective To explore the positive rate and special types of adverse transfusion reaction in children with severe (3 thalassema(βthal) with different genotype. Methods Clinical information from 142 children with β thal(doub-le heterozygote or homozygote) who had suffered blood transfusion repeatedly was analyzed then followed with the calculation of the positive rate as well as constituent ratio for every special type of irregular antibodies. Results The incidence of adverse transfusion reaction in 142 children with β that who had suffered blood transfusion for totally 1220 times was 2. 79%. The constituent ratio was displayed as follows:skin rash accounted for 32. 4% ,fever accounted for 26. 5% ,skin rash accompanied with skin itching accounted for 14. 7%,skin rash accompanied with fever accounted for 8. 8% .peliosis accompanied with fever accounted for 5. 9%,dysphoria and skin itching only accounted for 2. 9% .respectively.Conclusions Fever as well as all kinds of allergy symptoms are main types of adverse transfusion reaction in children with β that who have suffered blood transfusion repeatedly. It is suggested that washed red blood cells be the first choice of blood products for children with βO thal.
