Metastatic renal clear cell carcinoma of thyroid:one case report and literature review
Objective To examine the clinical diagnosis and treatment of renal clear cell carcinoma(RCC) transferring to thyroid gland, and review the clinical knowledge of secondary neoplasm in the thyroid gland. Method One patient with RCC was analyzed retrospectively about the clinical and pathological datum. And the correlative literature was reviewed. Results Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) was the best method to diagnose metastasis in thet hy-roid gland before operation,but the percentage was low. This disease often indicated a poor prognosis with the exception of RCC. Conclusion Metastasis in thethyroid gland is uncommon and may be a diagnostic problem. FNAC is the best method to diagnose metastasis in the thyroid gland. We should consummate FNAC as early as we can when we consider this disease, and take the therapy according to the patients condition.
