Controlled study on Aripiprazole plus Escitalopram in treatment of schizophrenia with negative symptoms
Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of Aripiprazole combined with Escitalopram in treatment of schizophrenia with negative symptoms. Methods 72 cases of schizophrenia with negative symptoms were randomly divided into research group(n = 36) orally took Aripiprazole plus Escitalopram and control group(n=36) Aripiprazole plus placebo for 12 weeks. Clinical efficacies were assessed with Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PAN-SS) and side effects with the Treatment Emergent Symptoms Scale(TESS) respectively before treatment and at the ends of the 2 th,4 th,6 th,8 th and 12 th week treatment. Results At the end of the 12th week treatment, there was no significant difference in effectiveness between two groups. But at the end of the 12th week,the negative symptom score was significantly lower in the research group compared with the control group(f<0.01). Main side effects of both groups were mild insomnia,headache,nausea,extrapyramidal symptoms,decrease of appetite etc. Conclusion Aripiprazole plus Escitalopram can significantly relieve negative symptoms of schizophrenics and less side effects.
