Correlation of RhoC expression with clinical histopathological characteristics of colorectal cancer
Objective To investigate the correlation of RhoC protein and clinical histopathological characteristics of colorectal cancer. Methods Tumor samples from 286 cases with colorectal cancer were collected to detect the expression of RhoC protein using antibodies against human RhoC protein by immunohistochemical staining. Differences of protein expression among pathological types, grades,TNM stages, recurrences and metastasis and invasion in cancer tissues were analyzed statistically. Results The positive RhoC protein staining was increased significantly in the colorectal cancer cases of Ⅲ~Ⅳ stages, lymph node metastasis,T3+T4 invasion and recurrences(P<0.05). However, the positive RhoC protein staining was not increased in the colorectal cancer cases of ages, sex, family history, tumor size and differentiation(P>0. 05). Conclusion RhoC protein expression is correlated with the some clinical histopathological characteristics of colorectal cancer, and may be a novel prognostic marker of colorectal cancer.
