Taking the full-suspension Becker rudder for a large container ship as an example,this paper ana-lyzes the problems of fracture,loosening,and movement of the foot bolts of the rudder carrier device during naviga-tion through on-site investigation.The paper puts forward the repair scheme of fixing the rudder blade,loosening the dry-type tiller,and dismantling the rudder stock in a floating state.In addition,boring the bearing housing,re-conditioning rudder carrier housing with sleeve,adding hydraulic expanding oil groove for tiller bore.As a result,the repaired steering gear runs smoothly,and the fault can be eliminated.
