In traditional marine engineering projects, structural steel pipes with a diameter greater than or equal to 406 mm are usually coiled under API 2B 2012 Specification for the Fabrication of Structural Steel Pipe, which is inefficient and costly. In view of solving this problem, this paper studied the pressing process through tests, which is more efficient and less expensive than the coiling process. This paper further studied the influence of steel sheet pressing and bending on the strength, plasticity and toughness of the base material of the steel pipe and the in-fluence of the pressing process on the dimensional accuracy of the pipe body and the mechanical properties of the base material and weld seam to determine the feasibility of pressing process application in manufacturing of steel pipes for marine engineering structures.
