Detection of disinfection by-products in drinking water by high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry
Objective To establish a HPLC-MS/MS method for detecting residues of disinfection by-products dichloroacetic acid and trichloroacetic acid in drinking water. Methods The samples were separated by HILIC chromatographic column after filtration, eluted with acetonitrile-water(50%-50%)mobile phase, and quantified by external standard method. Results The contents of dichloroacetic acid and trichloroacetic acid in water ranged from 0.5 to 100.0 μg/L with correlation coefficient(r)>0.999.The limit of quantitation was 0.5 μg/L,and the limit of detection was 0.2 μg/L.Conclusion The method can be used to quantitatively detect dichloroacetic acid and trichloroacetic acid residues in drinking water.
