Observation on bacteriostasis effect of silver/TiO2 nanomaterials
Objective To understand the bacteriostasis effect of silver/TiO2 nanomaterials(Ag/TiO2)on common oral pathogens. Methods Ag was uniformly deposited on the surface of TiO2NP25 by chemical methods, and the Ag/TiO2 composite nanomaterials were analyzed for the morphological characteristics and chemical structure detection of the synthetic materials. The bacteriostasis effect of the synthetic materials on common pathogenic bacteria was evaluated by detecting the minimum bactericidal concentration(MIC)and bacteriostasis rate. Results The results showed that Ag was uniformly deposit on the surface of TiO2,and the diameter of TiO2 was about 50 nm and the Ag was 5 nm.The results of bacteriostasis experiments showed that all the minimum inhibitory concentration of synthetic Ag/TiO2 against S.aureus,E.coli,and C.albicans were 250 mg/L.At the concentration of 1 000 mg/L,the inhibition rate reached 94.3%,77.9%and 84.6%for E.coli and C.albicans, respectively, and 2 000 mg/L TiO2 failed to detect the inhibition against the 3 strains of experimental bacterias. Conclusion In this study,Ag/TiO2 is successfully prepared by simple chemical methods and it can effectively inhibit common oral pathogens.
