The effect of computer vision on improving the accuracy of removing personal protective equipment for medical staff in fever clinics
Objective To investigate the effect of computer vision on improving the accuracy of removing personal protective equipment(PPE)for medical staff in a fever clinic. Methods From January to September 2022,medical staff in a fever clinic in a certain hospital were divided into an intervention group and a control group. The control group only had video surveillance without intelligent reminders, while the intervention group used computer vision to remind medical staff of the key steps of correctly removing PPE.The difference in the accuracy of removing PPE between the two groups was compared. Results Compared with the control group, the accuracy of hand hygiene in the first and second removing areas of the intervention group was significantly improved. The accuracy of PPE removal sequence increased from 74.66%to 91.70%after intervention(P<0.001),and the accuracy of all key steps increased from 89.85%to 94.10%after intervention(P<0.001).Conclusion The use of computer vision intelligence to remind the key steps of PPE removal process can significantly improve the accuracy of PPE removal for medical staff in fever clinics.
