Investigation and analysis of dental water contamination in medical institutions from 2020 to 2023
Objective To investigate the bacterial contamination of dental water in tertiary medical institutions in Guangzhou.Methods From 2020 to 2023,dental water samples from 30 tertiary medical institutions in Guangzhou were collected annually for bacterial culture and enumeration.A standardized questionnaire survey was conducted in 2023 to investigate the on-site situation of water supply system cleaning and disinfection.Results From 2020 to 2023,the qualified rate of dental water in tertiary medical institutions in Guangzhou showed an upward trend,among which the qualified rate was the lowest in 2020(58.2%),and the highest in 2023(93.2%)(P<0.001).The qualified rate of water samples for diagnosis and treatment with a frequency of≥1 time/week was higher than that of≤1 time/month,which were 97.3%and 83.3%,respectively(P=0.005).Conclusion The qualified rate of dental water in tertiary medical institutions in the city is significantly improved.Increasing the frequency of waterway disinfection can improve the qualified rate of dental water.
