Epidemiological characteristics of healthcare-associated infection in elderly patients in a tertiary general hospital from 2017 to 2022
Objective To compare the epidemiological characteristics of nosocomial infection in elderly patients of different ages in a hospital. Methods The data of elderly patients with nosocomial infection from January 2017 to December 2022 were collected through the real-time monitoring system of nosocomial infection, and they were divided into the younger age group(60-69 years old,2 002 cases),the middle-age group(70-79 years old,1 301 cases)and the older age group(≥80 years old,449 cases),and the epidemiological characteristics of elderly patients of different ages such as the incidence of nosocomial infection and the detection of pathogens were analyzed. Results The incidence of nosocomial infection in the elderly patients was 1.45%,and the hospital stay in the younger age group was longer than that in the middle-aged group(P<0.05).The intensive care unit(15.31%)and neurosurgery(10.05%)were the departments with the highest incidence of infection.Respiratory tract(42.42%),"three-tube"(17.13%)and blood(13.95%)infections were the main types of infection.Klebsiella pneumoniae,Escherichia coli, and Acinetobacter baumannii were the most common pathogens. Conclusion Infection prevention and control in elderly patients with invasive procedures in intensive care units and neurology departments need to be strengthened.
