Analysis of factors affecting the efficacy of pressure steam sterilization for infectious waste packaging methods in biosafety laboratories
Objective To observe the influencing factors of packaging materials on sterilization quality during the disposal of infectious waste in biosafety laboratories. Methods Biological and chemical monitoring methods were used to observe and analyze the risk factors affecting the pressure steam sterilization effect of infectious waste packaging materials in biosafety laboratories. Results It was more difficult to sterilize infectious waste using single-layer sealed packaging than single-layer open packaging in laboratories. The difficulty of sterilization of cell culture flasks, sharps boxes, and sampling tubes increased sequentially.Sampling tubes with double-layer sealed outer packaging were difficult to be sterilized. Conclusion When pressure steam sterilization is performed on infectious waste in biosafety laboratories,a single-layer outer packaging should be used, and the exhaust port should be left during packaging to ensure sterilization quality.
