Investigation on surface contamination and intervention effects of high-frequency contact objects and hand hygiene of staff in ICU of a hospital
Objective To investigate the surface contamination of high-frequency contact objects and hand hygiene of staff in a hospital ICU,and to evaluate the effect of intervention measures. Methods The surface samples of high frequency contact objects such as slings and sheet fabrics in ICU and samples of hand hygiene of staff were collected from March to September 2023.The qualified rate of sample hygiene or disinfection of pathogenic bacteria were compared before and after taking intervention measures such as training,on-site technical guidance and supervision and assessment. Results There were 123 samples before intervention and 156 samples after intervention. After the intervention, the average sanitary qualification rate of special sling increased from 73.2%to 93.3%,and the sanitary qualification rate of sheet fabrics increased from 70.8%to 96.7%.The disinfection qualification rate of bedside tables and bed guardrails had increased from 31.3%to 72.2%,and that rate of bedside instrument disinfection increased from 18.2%to 66.7%;The detection rate of special sling and sheet fabric was 40.0%and 33.3%respectively,lower than 89.3%and 87.5%before intervention(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the qualified rate of staff hand hygiene before and after the intervention(87.5%vs 92.6%;P=0.621).Conclusion The contamination in the ICU can be effectively reduced by taking measures such as training,on-site technical guidance, supervision and assessment and other measures.
