Study on the Application of Oleic Acid in a Liquid Detergent
Plant-derived oleic acid is a kind of surfactant produced from renewable resources and has a broad application prospect in liquid detergents. The surface tension, foaming power, wetting time and cleaning power of oleic acid, aliphatic alcohol polyoxyethylene ether and aliphatic alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sodium sulfate and their composite systems were studied in this paper. The results indicated that Oleic acid had excellent defoaming and thickening effects. However, its drawbacks of intolerance to hard water and susceptibility to oxidation limited the dosage of oleic acid in laundry detergent.Nonetheless, the plant-derived oleic acid remains a suitable raw material for liquid fabric detergents.
