Research Progress of Photo-Responsive Microemulsions
Microemulsions are thermodynamically stable and isotropic transparent dispersion systems composed of water,oil,and surfactants(usually with the addition of co-surfactants).Microemulsions with small particle size and thermodynamic stability have a wide application in the fields of oil recovery,cosmetics and pharmaceutical formulations,nanoparticle synthesis and chemical reaction media and so on,which has attracted the interests of researchers.Photo-responsive microemulsions refers to a kind of intelligent microemulsion of whose properties and phase behavior can be changed under the trigger of UV/visible light.Light stimulation offers the advantages of simple response,fast switching,and the ability to achieve remote and precise control of phase behavior,which provides unique benefits in stimulation-responsive microemulsions.In this paper,the photo-responsive functional compounds were utilized as the main line to review the light-responsive phase behavior and structural properties of the microemulsion systems in which they were involved.In addition,this paper analyzed the primary issues within this field and provided insights into potential development directions.
