Rhamnolipid is a new type of surfactant produced by biological fermentation with renewable raw materials,which can be used to develop sustainable detergent formulations with excellent performance,mildness and water-saving property.This study on rhamnolipids includes its mildness,surface activity,synergistic effect with enzyme or other biosurfactant in detergent formulation,easy rinsing-off,care function of fabrics and plastic materials.The results showed that rhamnolipid was highly mild and surface active.It not only showed good cleaning power in both fabric cleaning and hard surface cleaning applications,but also an efficient synergistic with enzyme or sophorolipid.Detergent formulations based on rhamnolipid are easy to rinse thus can save water consumption.In addition,rhamnolipids have no damage to fabrics and plastics,yet have care effects.
