Breeding of a new mini watermelon variety'Shannong No.3'
Abristract:'Shannong No.3'is a new mini watermelon F1 hybrid.Its female parent is'M201'and male parent is'M203'.The plant is vigor with good resistance to fusadumwilt and gummy stem blight.The plant growth period is about 104 days and fruit developing period is 31 days in early spring.The first female flower appears on section 7 to 9,with 4-5 female flowers interval section.The plant sets fruit easily.The fruit is high round with green skin and dark green stripes,and the fruit shape index is 1.1.The tough rind thickness is 0.5 cm,and resistant to fruit-cracking.The bright red flesh is crisp.The flesh soluble solid content is 12％ in center and 9.7％ near skin.The single fruit weight is about 1.8 kg,and per 667 m2 yield is about 3 600 kg.It is suitable to be planted in greenhouse in Shaanxi and similar climates areas.
