Effects of cadmium on the growth and cadmium accumulation character-istics of Guangmi 2 miben pumpkin seedlings
Cadmium(Cd),a highly toxic and widely distributed heavy metal pollutant, not only affects plant growth and development, but also endangers human health. In order to better understand the migration rule of cadmium in pumpkin, and deeply explore the toxic mechanism of cadmium to plants and the defense response of plants,in this study,Guangmi 2 Miben pumpkin was planted in 4 different concentrations(1,3,5,7 mg·L-1)of CdSO4·8H2O solution for 28 days, and its growth parameters, antioxidant enzyme activity, cadmium absorption and transport characteristics were analyzed. With the increase of cadmium concentration, the accumulation of cadmium was higher in roots than in stems and leaves, and the activity of superoxide dismutase, peroxidase and catalase and the content of malondialdehyde in leaves of Guangmi 2 Miben pumpkin were increased under cadmium stress. When the concentration of Cd in the solution is low(1 mg·L-1),Cd has no inhibitory effect on the growth of Guangmi 2,while the concentration of Cd in the solution is above 3 mg·L-1,the growth inhibition degree of pumpkin is increased with the increase of the concentration of cadmium in the culture solu-tion.
