Breeding of a new chili pepper cultivar Kangmei No.7
Kangmei No.7 is a first generation hybrid of chili pepper selected from the inbred line LZY1051 as the female parent and the inbred line LZY178-4 as the male parent.This variety has a full growth period of about 165 days and strong plant growth potential during early spring cultivation in plastic greenhouses.The average plant height is 70 cm and the average plant width is 65 cm.The initial flowering stage is around 7 nodes,extremely early maturing.The fruit is long lantern shaped,green mature fruit,red old mature fruit.The fruit has a longitudinal diameter of 13.0-17.0 cm and a trans-verse diameter of about 4.10 cm,with an average flesh thickness of 0.28 cm and single fruit mass of 50-90 g.The vitamin C content is 97.3 mg·100 g-1,and the capsaicin content is 0.08%.Resistant to CMV,TMV,epidemics,anthrax,relatively tolerant to low temperatures,and relatively tolerant to weak light.The yield of 667 m2 is 3700-4300 kg,it is suitable for cultivation in spring and autumn in various regions such as Henan,Hebei,Anhui,Guizhou,Zhejiang,Jiangsu,Chongqing,Shaanxi,Gansu,Shandong,etc.
