Breeding of a new tomato cultivar Xifen No.9 with resistance to tomato spotted wilt virus
Xifen No. 9 is a novel F1 hybrid cultivar of tomato,resulting from the crossing between female parent 8-18-west and male parent 9-2. It is infinite growth type,and has strong growth potential,dark green leaves and medium or off-season maturity. The first inflorescence emerged at the 6-8 th leaves,and the inflorescence is separated by 3 leaves. The fruits are oblate and pink with high hardness,and display green shoulders during the maturing period. The average single fruit mass is about 220 g. The soluble solids content is 4.4%,the total sugar is 1.5%,the lycopene content is 78.3 mg·kg-1 and the vitamin C content is 17.2 mg·100 g-1. The yield of Xifen No. 9 is about 7210 kg·667 m-2. Additionally,Xifen No. 9 is resistant to tomato spotted wilt virus,tomato yellow leaf curl virus,root knot nematodes and other diseases,and assume strong resistance. It is suitable for cultivation in the Shaanxi province in early-spring.
