Study on the correlation between urodynamic examination parameters and prostate specific antigen level of acute urinary retention in elderly patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia
Objective To analyze the relationship between urodynamic examination parameters and prostate specific antigen level of acute urinary retention(AUR)in elderly benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)patients. Methods A total of 100 patients with BPH admitted to Pinggu District Hospital from January 2021 to January 2023 were selected as the study subjects. The patients were divided into AUR group and non-AUR group according to whether they had AUR,with 50 cases in each group. The bladder compliance, urine flow rate, initial bladder capacity, maximum detrusor pressure, bladder residual urine volume, and maximum bladder capacity, serum total PSA(tPSA)and free PSA(fPSA)levels in the the two groups were measured. Results The urine flow rate and maximal detrusor pressure in the AUR group were significantly lower than those in the non-AUR group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The initial bladder capacity, maximum bladder capacity, bladder compliance and bladder residual urine volume in the AUR group were significantly higher than those in the non-AUR group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Serum tPSA and fPSA levels in the AUR group were significantly higher than those in the non-AUR group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Urine flow rate, maximal detrusor pressure were negatively correlated with the AUR of BPH(P<0.05).The initial bladder capacity, maximum bladder capacity, bladder compliance, bladder residual urine volume,tPSA and fPSA were significantly positively correlated with the AUR of BPH(P<0.05).Low urine flow rate, low maximum detrusor pressure, high initial bladder capacity, high maximum bladder capacity, high bladder compliance, high bladder residual urine volume, high tPSA,and high fPSA were the independent risk factors for AUR of BPH(P<0.05).Conclusions Urodynamic parameters and PSA are correlated with the occurrence of AUR in elderly BPH patients, and the potential risk of AUR in elderly BPH patients can be analyzed by monitoring urodynamic examination parameters and PSA levels in clinic.
