Effectiveness and tolerance of tamsulosin capsules combined with Qianlie Shutong capsules in the treatment of elderly benign prostatic hyperplasia with lower urinary tract symptoms
Objective To explore the effectiveness and tolerance of tamsulosin capsules combined with Qianlie Shutong capsules in the treatment of elderly benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)with lower urinary tract symptoms.Methods A total of 82 elderly BPH patients with lower urinary tract symptoms admitted to the People's Hospital of Susong from January 2019 to December 2022 were selected as the research subjects.They were divided into control group(n =41)and observation group(n =41)by the random number table method.The control group was treated with tamsulosin capsules while the observation group was treated with Qianlie Shutong capsules on the basis of the control group.After 8 weeks of treatment,international prostate symptom score(IPSS),prostate volume,urodynamic indicators[post-voiding residual(PVR),average urinary flow rate(AFR),and maximum urinary flow rate(MFR)],laboratory indicators[prostate specific antigen(PSA),urinary sediment erythrocyte count]and occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the IPSS in both groups decreased,the prostate volume reduced(P＜0.05),and the IPSS in observation group was lower than that in control group,the prostate volume was smaller than that in control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the AFR and MFR in both groups were increased while the PVR was decreased(P＜0.05),and the AFR and MFR in observation group were higher than those in control group while the PVR was lower than that in control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the PSA and urinary sediment erythrocyte count were decreased in the two groups(P＜0.05),and the PSA and urinary sediment erythrocyte count in observation group were lower than those in control group(P＜0.05).During treatment,there were no significant differences in the incidence rates of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusions Tamsulosin capsules combined with Qianlie Shutong capsules can effectively improve the disease condition of elderly BPH patients,reduce the lower urinary tract symptoms and improve the urodynamics,and its drug tolerance and safety are worthy of approval.
