Correlation analysis of body mass index,waist-to-hip ratio and insulin resistance with postmenopausal endometrial polyp
Objective To explore the correlation between body mass index(BMI),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),insulin resistance(IR)and postmenopausal endometrial polyp(EP).Methods A total of 180 patients with suspected postmenopausal EP admitted to Ziyang People's Hospital from October 2021 to January 2023 were enrolled as the research objects.According to the results of pathological examination, they were divided into EP group(n =90)and non-EP group(n =90).BMI,WHR,IR occurrence and levels of sex hormones were compared between the two groups. The relationship between BMI,WHR,IR and the occurrence of postmenopausal EP was analyzed. Results BMI,waist circumference, hip circumference and WHR in EP group were higher than those in non-EP group(P<0.05).The fasting blood glucose(FBG),fasting insulin(FIN),homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)and incidence of IR in EP group were higher than those in non-EP group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in levels of luteinizing hormone(LH),follicle stimulating hormone(FSH),estradiol(E2)and progesterone(P)between the two groups(P>0.05).The BMI and WHR of EP patients were positively correlated with HOMA-IR(P<0.05).BMI,WHR and HOMA-IR were independent risk factors of EP.Conclusions BMI,WHR and HOMA-IR are correlated with the occurrence of postmenopausal EP.Clinical attention should be paid to patients with obesity and high insulin, and gynecological examination should be performed regularly.
