Progress in the study of complications associated with polycystic ovary syndrome in women in midlife
Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)is one of the common endocrine disorders and chronic diseases in women of the reproductive age,which has a serious impact on women's long-term health.However,most domestic and foreign studies focus on adolescent women and women of reproductive age.As the first peak period of PCOS incidence decline and the transition stage to old age,the discussion of complications in this period has a great significance for timely prevention of complications,improve long-term adverse health outcomes and save economic cost.In addition,midlife is an important stage of hormonal changes in women's bodies,and PCOS,one of the common endocrine disease,also aggravates hormonal disorders in women.This article reviewed the status quo and influencing factors of midlife complications of PCOS women.It was found that PCOS not only affects the health outcomes of adolescence and reproductive age,but also has many complications in the midlife.Moreover,as a lifelong disease,the complications bring heavy economic burden,and active prevention and treatment is particularly important.
