Effect of time-lapse culture system on the clinical outcome of in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection cleavage embryo transfer patients
Objective To investigate the effect of time-lapse(TL)culture system and conventional culture on the pregnancy outcomes and neonatal outcomes of in vitro fertilization(IVF)and intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)cleavage embryo transfer(ET)patients. Methods A total of 1,148 couples underwent IVF-ET/ICSI-ET assisted pregnancy in the Department of Reproductive Medicine of Huai'an Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2018 to March 2022 were included as study objects, with a total of 1,200 cycles.Among them,TL culture for 550 cycles were selected as TL culture group(n=550)and conventional culture for 650 cycles weas selected as conventional culture group(n=650).The differences of baseline data, pregnancy outcomes and neonatal outcomes between the two groups were compared. Results The clinical pregnancy rate, implantation rate and live birth rate of patients in TL culture group were significantly higher than those in conventional culture group(x2=13.776,P<0.001;x2=23.663,P<0.001;x2=6.886,P=0.011),the number of transferred embryos was significantly lower than that of conventional culture group(x2=2.845,P=0.005).There was no significant difference between the two groups in premature delivery rate, adverse neonatal outcomes, neonatal weight, malformation rate and neonatal sex ratio(x2=0.190,P=0.738;x2=0.663,P=0.024;t=0.221,P=0.878;x2=0.615,P=1.148;x2=0.335,P=0.284).Conclusions TL culture system can significantly improve the clinical pregnancy rate, implantation rate and live birth rate of IVF-ET/ICSI-ET patients, and it has no adverse effect on neonatal birth outcomes.
