Research progress of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of premature ovarian insufficiency
Premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)is a complex endocrine disease, the specific pathogenesis is not clear, current studies have shown that genetic, immune, environmental, surgical and chemotherapy and other factors are related to it.At the same time, oxidative stress, vascular injury, and apoptosis of ovarian granulosa cells(OGC)and theca-interstitial cells(TIC)were associated with the occurrence of the disease. In recent years, the incidence of POI has gradually increased and has a trend of younger age.The clinical-commonly used hormone replacement therapy, immunotherapy and assisted reproductive means cannot fundamentally improve ovarian function.Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell(hUCMSC)belongs to the pluripotent stem cells, and has multi-directional differentiation and self-renewal ability. It can reduce the accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS),regulate autophagy, reduce TIC apoptosis, inhibit ovarian fibrosis, promote follicle development and OGC proliferation. It can be seen that hUCMSC has a"one-to-many"biological effect. This paper reviews the research progress of hUCMSC in the treatment of POI,which may provide a theoretical basis for hUCMSC restoring the function of damaged ovarian tissue.
