Correlation between single nucleotide polymorphism of Leptin receptor gene Gln223Arg and semen quality parameters
Objective To investigate correlation between single nucleotide polymorphism of Leptin receptor gene Gln223Arg and semen quality parameters. Methods A total of 156 obese males who underwent pre-pregnancy examinations at Gansu Provincial Maternity and Child-care Hospital from January to December 2021 were selected as the observation group, while 150 non-obese males were selected as the control group.LEPR gene Gln223Arg genotype was detected, the distribution and differences of LEPR gene Gln223Arg polymorphism between the two groups were analyzed, and the relationship between genotype and the changes of semen quality parameters was analyzed. Results The risk of abnormal sperm density, motility, morphology, and DNA fragmentation index(DFI)in G/G genotype carriers population was 1.21,2.36,1.68,and 1.85 times higher than that in A/A and A/G genotype carriers population, respectively. Conclusions The LEPR gene Gln223Arg polymorphism may increase the risk of obesity in men,and the G-type allele may be more likely to cause abnormal sperm quality than the A-type allele.
