Meta-analysis of clinical efficacy and safety of moxibustion assisted treatment of erectile dysfunction
Objective To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of moxibustion assisted treatment of erectile dysfunction, and to provide evidence-based medical evidence for the clinical application of moxibustion. Methods Databases of CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,SinoMed,PubMed,Embase and Cochrane were searched by computer for the randomized controlled trail(RCT)studies on the assisted treatment of erectile dysfunction by moxibustion from the establishment of the database to March 2023.Literature screening, data extraction and quality evaluation were conducted independently by two researchers, and Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software. Results A total of 13 studies with a total of 1,175 subjects were included. The results of Meta-analysis showed that compared with conventional therapy, the total effective rate of moxibustion assisted treatment of ED was improved(RR=1.23,95%CI:1.16-1.31,P<0.000,01);the international index of erectile function-5(IIEF-5)score was increased(MD=2.75,95%CI:2.38-3.12,P<0.000,01);erectile hardness(EHS)score increased, erectile hardness improved(MD=0.44,95%CI:0.30-0.58,P<0.000,01);testosterone levels increased(MD=0.87,95%CI:0.66-1.08,P<0.000,01);the rate of adverse reactions was significantly decreased(RR=0.41,95%CI:0.17-0.95,P=0.04).Conclusions Moxibustion assisted conventional therapy in the treatment of ED can effectively improve the total effective rate,IIEF-5 score,EHS score and testosterone level, and reduce the rate of adverse reactions.
