The distribution of pathogenic bacteria and the expression levels and clinical significance of serum oxidative stress factors in patients with genital candidiasis
Objective To investigate the distribution of pathogenic bacteria and the expression levels and clinical significance of serum oxidative stress factors in patients with genital candidiasis. Methods A total of 120 patients with genital candidiasis treated in Fuyang Women and Children's Hospital from May 2020 to August 2023 were selected as the research objects and was regarded as the study group. The distribution of the pathogenic bacteria was analyzed.Another 86 healthy subjects underwent physical examination during the same period were selected as the control group. The serum levels of oxidative stress factors were compared in both groups. The diagnostic value of serum oxidative stress factors levels in genital candidiasis was analyzed. The study group was divided into mild group(n=63),moderate group(n=38)and severe group(n=19)according to the severity of the disease. The levels of serum oxidative stress factors levels in the three groups were compared, and the correlation of serum oxidative stress factors levels and the severity of the disease was analyzed. Results The main pathogenic bacteria isolated from the 120 patients were mainly Candida albicans(79 cases,65.83%).The proportions of Candida glabrata,Candida tropicalis,Candida Klurensis and Candida parapsilosis were 15.00%(18 cases),12.50%(15 cases)and 6.67%(8 cases),respectively. The levels of oxidative stress factors including total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase dismutase(GSH-PX)and catalase(CAT)in the study group were all significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve shows that the area under the curve(AUC)of T-AOC,SOD,GSH-PX and CAT for diagnosis of genital candidiasis was 0.785,0.778,0.819 and 0.609,respectively.The levels of oxidative stress factors such as T-AOC,SOD,GSH-PX and CAT in the severe group were lower than those in the moderate group and the mild group, and those in the moderate group were lower than those in the mild group(P<0.05).Spearman correlation analysis showed that the levels of oxidative stress factors such as T-AOC,SOD,GSH-PX and CAT were negatively correlated with the severity of the disease condition of patients(r=-0.534,-0.612,-0.438,-0.396,P<0.05).Conclusions Candida albicans is the main pathogenic bacteria in patients with genital candidiasis. The oxidative stress reaction in these patients is enhanced.Oxidative stress factors can be used to diagnose and evaluate the severity of the disease condition of patients.
