Intimate partner violence experience and its associated factors among men who have sex with men in Mianyang City
Objective To investigate the status quo of intimate partner violence(IPV)experience among men who have sex with men(MSM)in Mianyang City,Sichuan Province,and analyze the associated factors.Methods A total of 984 MSM were selected by"snowball"sampling method for questionnaire survey from January to December 2022.The correlation factors of MSM experience IPV were analyzed by x2test and Logistic regression model.Results A total of 984 subjects were investigated,of which 3.7%had experienced IPV,8.3%of them had experienced physical violence,69.4%of them had experienced verbal violence,and 11.1%had experienced sexual violence and other violence.50.0%had experienced IPV from regular sexual partners,30.6%had experienced IPV from casual sexual partners,and 19.4%had experienced IPV from both.The results of multivariate analysis showed that those who lived in urban areas(OR=4.831),had been inserted/flexible of the sexual role(OR=3.652),anal sex partners ≥4(OR=2.740),and had high sexual sensation seeking(OR=2.470)were more likely to experience IPV.Those with knowledge of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS)(OR=0.141)and fear of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection(OR=0.240)were less likely to experience IPV.Conclusions The IPV experience of MSM is mainly characterized by casual sexual partners and verbal violence.The IPV experience is related to sexual role,number of anal sexual partner and sexual sensation seeking,and the IPV experience increases the risk of HIV infection.Targeted health education and behavioral intervention should be carried out.
