Expression and predictive value of follicular regulatory T cells,follicular helper T cells,and their ratios in peripheral blood of patients with syphilis sero-fixation
Objective To analyze the expression levels of peripheral blood follicular regulatory T cells(Tfr cells),follicular helper T cells(Tfh cells),and their ratios in patients with syphilis sero-fixation,and to explore their correlation and predictive value with syphilis sero-fixation.Methods A total of 30 patients with syphilis sero-fixation(syphilis sero-fixation group)and 30 patients with syphilis-negative(syphilis-negative group)admitted to Zhejiang Provincial Dermatology Hospital from January 2020 to December 2022 were selected as study subjects.In addition,30 healthy medical check-up people were selected as the healthy control group during the same period.Flow cytometry was used to detect the peripheral blood Tfh cells and Tfr cells levels and Tfr cells/Tfh cells ratio in the three groups,and correlation between the changes in Tfh cells and Tfr cells levels and the serum toluidine red unheated serum test(TRUST)titer were analyzed.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve were drawn to assess the predictive value of the Tfr cells levels and Tfr cells/Tfh cells ratio for syphilis sero-fixation.Results There was no significant difference in the levels of Tfh cells among the three groups(P>0.05),whereas the level of Tfr cells and the Tfr cells/Tfh cells ratio were higher in the syphilis sero-fixation group than those of syphilis-negative group and healthy control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).In addition,there were no significant correlation between Tfh cells,Tfr cells levels and TRUST titer(r=0.217,0.225,P>0.05).The results of ROC curve showed that the area under curve(AUC)of Tfr cells level and Tfr cells/Tfh cells ratio were 0.707 and 0.692,respectively(P<0.05).Conclusions There is a Tfr cells and Tfh cells imbalance in patients with syphilis sero-fixation,and Tfr cells levels and Tfr cells/Tfh cells ratio can be used as predictors of syphilis sero-fixation.
