Objective To investigate the effect of tonify kidney and invigorate Yang prescription on sexual function,serum sex hormones,mitogen activated protein kinase(MAPK),phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase(p-ERK),and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)levels in patients with erectile dysfunction(ED).Methods A total of 152 ED patients admitted to Xiaoshan District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to December 2022 were selected as study objects.They were randomly divided into the study group and the control group according to random number table method,with 76 cases each.The control group was treated with conventional drugs,while the study group was treated with conventional drugs combined with tonify kidney and invigorate Yang prescription.The clinical therapeutic effect,serum sex hormone level,serum MAPK,p-ERK,VEGF and erectile function were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).After treatment,the international index of erectile function-5(IIEF-5)score and testosterone(T)levels in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group,while the luteinizing hormone(LH),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),prolactin(PRL),and estradiol(E2)levels were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The serum levels of MAPK,p-ERK,and VEGF in the study group were lower than those in the control group after treatment,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusions The tonify kidney and invigorate Yang prescription can regulate MAPK signaling pathway,inhibit p-ERK and VEGF to exert the effect of treating ED,and help to improve the sex hormone levels of patients,and achieve the purpose of improving sexual function.
