Investigation and disposal analysis of human immunodeficiency virus group occupational exposure events
Objective To comprehensively explore the weaknesses and improvement recommendations in disposal of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)occupational exposure in medical institutions based on the reference of a case of group occupational exposure caused by an acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)patient in hospital,by combining relevant research findings from domestic and international sources,in order to effectively prevent and control occupational exposure occurence among healthcare workers.Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the data related to a case of group occupational exposure caused by an AIDS patient in Xiaogan Central Hospital.Results This occupational exposure incident involved 4 departments,with a total of 7 healthcare workers.Among them,2 healthcare workers were assessed and received treatment according to the recommended therapy.HIV antibody tests conducted on the day of exposure and after 4 weeks,8 weeks,and 12 weeks were all negative.Follow-up will continue for a period of 6 months.Conclusions Medical institutions should take comprehensive control measures around both pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure prophylaxis,and interdisciplinary collaboration among multiple departments is of significant importance in reducing occupational exposure.
