A study on the impact of androgen deprivation therapy on health related quality of life in prostate cancer patients
Objective To explore the influencing factors of health-related quality of life(HRQoL)in prostate cancer patients undergoing androgen deprivation therapy(ADT),particularly the impact of positive thinking. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted,a total of 90 prostate cancer patients treated with ADT at Lishui Central Hospital from December 2020 to December 2022 were selected as the research subjects.General information of the patients was collected, and the positive thinking scale, social support scale, and functional assessment of cancer therapy-prostate(FACT-P)were used to investigate their quality of life and analyze the factors affecting their quality of life. Results The HRQoL of prostate cancer patients with different marital status, occupational status, disease duration, cancer stage, complications, the most recent serum prostate specific androgen(PSA)level,self-rated health status, and positive thinking showed statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Age and the most recent serum PSA level were negatively correlated with HRQoL in prostate cancer patients(P<0.05),while self-rated health status and positive thinking were positively correlated with HRQoL in prostate cancer patients(P<0.05).Conclusions The HRQoL of prostate cancer patients receiving ADT is affected by various factors. In clinical practice, personalized measures can be taken according to different influencing factors to improve the health level and quality of life of patients.
