Exploration of the application of the Tongfa in the treatment of chronic prostatitis based on the theory of"four Qi and five flavors"
Chronic prostatitis(CP)is a common andrology disease,which significantly impairs physical and psychological health and the quality of life.Western medicine have demonstrated limited efficacy in treating this condition,but traditional Chinese medicine has distinctive advantage in treating CP.Contemporary doctors mainly manage from the aspects of the pathogenesis of liver Qi stagnation,Qi stasis with blood stasis,damp-heat descending,etc.This paper discusses the application of Tongfa in the treatment of CP based on four Qi and five flavors.As"Jingui Yaolüe"postulates,if the five entrails are fundamentally unobstructed,the individual attains tranquility and harmony.The efficacy of seminal vesicle function lies in its judicious containment and release.The unimpeded flow of seminal essence can return the Xianghuo to prevent the aberration of seminal essence and the ensuing generation of turbid substances.The therapeutic emphasis on managing turbidity underscores the importance of"Tong",aspiring towards harmony.The current article makes use of Tongfa and encompasses diverse therapeutic implications,including clearing heat and dampness to facilitate the removal of turbidity,promoting blood circulation and resolving stasis to facilitate vessel patency,regulating Qi circulation and alleviating stagnation to facilitate respiratory flow,and warming the Yang and nourishing the kidneys to facilitate tonification.Clinical applications necessitate flexible usage,nuanced discernment between deficiency and excess,adept understanding of the nature and flavor of medicinal agents,selection of drugs that possess heat-clearing,stasis-dissolving,dampness-expelling,Qi-moving,and tonifying properties,and management tailored to the specific context of each case.The four Qi and five flavors theory constitutes the cornerstone of herbal pharmacology.Therefore,we integrate the principles of the four Qi and five flavors with the therapeutic application of Tongfa in this paper,to explore syndrome and treatment of CP.
