Effect of Different Energy and Protein Supplementation Levels on Cashmere Performance and Nutrients Metabolic Rate in Liaoning Cashmere Goats
This research was conducted to study the effect of different energy and protein levels in diet on cashmere performance and associated indicators in Liaoning cashmere goat. A randomized experiment design was used. Twenty (1-year-old) Iiaoning cashmere goats were divided by weight into five groups, and each group had four Iiaoning cashmeregoats. The five groups of cashmere goats were fed with three levels of protein(7.7%, 9.4% and 11.2%) and three levels of energy(7.6, 8.6 and 9.6 MJ/kgDM). The results showed that different dietary energy levels had significant (P<0.05) effect on cashmere diameter, but no significant (P>0.05) effect on cashmere length and intensity; Different dietary protein levels had no significant (P>0.05) on cashmere quality; A significant (P<0.05) positive correlation was found between dietary energy level and energy metabolic rate. And the protein metabolic rate increased with the increasing in energy levels (P< 0.05); A significant (P<0.05) positive correlation was found between dietary protein level and protein metabolic rate, but different dietary protein levels had no significant (P>0.05) effect on energy metabolic rate. Therefore, the appropriate levels of energy and protein for Liaoning cashmere goats are 17.1 MJ/kgDM (DM basis)and 81.0 g/kgDM(DM basis)o
