Effects of L-theanine on Serum Lysozyme Activity and Fecal Coccidial Oocyst in Arbor Acres Broiler Chickens Challenged with Eimeria Acervulina
To study the effects of L-theanine on serum lysozyme activity and fecal coccidial oocyst in arbor acres broiler chickens with eimeria acervulina challenge. The design of this experiment was a 2x2 factorial arrangement with two dietary concentrations of L-theanine (0,800 mg/kg) with or without Eimeria Acervulina challenge.A total of 240 one-day-old male arbor acres broiler chickens were randomly assigned into 4 groups with 6 replicates and 10 chickens per replicates. At the age of 21 d,the isodose sporulate E.acervulina oocysts and saline were respectively gavaged to chickens in control and experimental groups. On t 21 and 28,the blood and feces were collected respectively to detect the content of serum lysozyme and fecal coccidial oocyst. The results showed that L-theanine could significantly increase the content of serum lysozyme (P<0.01) and decrease fecal coccidial oocyst (P<0.05) after eimeria acervulina challenge. The result indicated that L-theanine had a benefit effect on immune function of arbor acres broiler chickens infected with Eimeria A cervulina.
