Effects of Enteromorpha prolifera Powder on Growth Performance, Immune Organs Indices and Serum Biochemical Indices of Meat Duck
The present experiment was conducted to study the effects of supplementation of Enteromorpha prolifera in diet on growth performance, immune organs indices and serum biochemical indices of meat ducks.A total of 288 healthy Cherry Valley ducks at 1 d of age were randomly divided into four groups of 6 replicates with 12 ducks in each that replicates. The ducks in control group were fed the basal diet, and the ducks other treatment groups were fed the basal diet with 2%,3% and 4% Enteromorpha prolifera, respectively. The experiment lasted for 42 d.The results showed as follows:Diet with 3% and 4% Enteromorpha significantly improved the average daily feed intake and daily gain(P <0.05);and significantly improved the average live weight, dressing percentage, semi eviscerated rate;4% of Enteromorpha prolifera significantly improved the eviscerated rate (P <0.05);2% to 4% of Enteromorpha prolifera significantly improved the rate of breast muscle (P <0.05);Diets containing 3% or 4% Enteromorpha improved the immune organ indices of ducks (P <0.05);3% Enteromorpha improved the content of serum total protein and albumin (P <0.05).In conclusion,Enteromorpha prolifera as a new resource of feed could improve growth performance, slaughter performance immunity, and body protein synthesis of meat ducks, and the recommended supplementation of Enteromorpha prolifera in diets ranged from 3% to 4% in meat ducks production.
