Analysis of Energy and Protein Requirements of Growing Saanen Dairy Goats
The aim of this study was to estimate the energy and protein requirements for maintenance and growth of Saanen dairy goats from 10 to 40 kg by means of data models. To determine the model parameters, the literature was collected by means of database retrieval.According to the exclusion criteria of literature, nine literatures including the data of 419 Saanen dairy goats were included for Meta-analysis.The following quantitative data extracted from the literature were included:body weight(BW),empty body weight(EBW),average daily gain(ADG),empty body gain(EBG),heat production(HP),Metabolizable energy intake(MEI),retained energy(RE),Metabolic protein(Metabolizable protein intake,MPI)and body protein content(BPC).The regression equations established were as follows:for Net Energy for maintenance(NEm):LogHP(MJ/kg EBW0.75)=-0.534 08(±0.025 01)+0.424 45(±0.020 40)×MEI(MJ/kg EBW0.75);for Net Energy for gain(NEg):NEg(MJ/kg EBW0.75)=1.294 71×100.644 54×EBW0.294 71(kg);for Metabolizable Protein for maintenance(NPm):RN(g/kg EBW0.75=-0.456 21(±0.514 35)+3.035 90(±0.638 35)×NI(g/kg EBW0.75);for Net Protein for gain(NPg):NPg(g/d)=0.947 17×102.318 8×EBW-0.058 3(kg).The NEm requirement was 0.29 MJ/kg EBW0.75,and the Metabolizable energy for maintenance requirement was 0.483 0 MJ/kg EBW0.75.The NPm requirement was 2.85 g/kg EBW0.75,and the Metabolizable protein for maintenance requirement was 3.314 7 g/kg EBW0.75.The NEg requirement ranged from 0.74 to 3.41 MJ/d,the Metabolizable energy for gain requirement ranged from 4.94 to 19.17 MJ/d,the NPg requirement ranged from 12.00 to 34.33 g/d,and the Metabolizable protein for gain requirement ranged from 17.14 to 49.04 g/d for goats with BW ranging from 10 to 40 kg and ADG ranging from 100 to 250 g/d respectively. In conclusion,The results obtained by Meta-analysis in this paper support the hypothesis that energy and protein requirements of Saanen dairy goats are within a reasonable range and different from those of local breeds, and recommended parameters such as NRC.Therefore, the energy and protein requirements of Saanen dairy goats derived in this paper differed slightly from the NRC recommended values, and the requirement formula and parameters derived from this study can be used as a reference.
