Advances in Breeding for Prematurity of High Quality Broilers
Sexual precocity is an important economic trait unique to high-quality chickens.The degree of sexual maturity determines the grade and selling price of the product,and the appearance of sexual maturity(large crown,blush,bright color,certain subcutaneous fat,etc.)is the basic condition for high-quality chicken to market.When the chicken is close to sexual maturity,the body composition changes,the carcass quality improves,the content of flavor substances such as intramuscular fat increases,and the chicken taste is good.The chicken with early sexual maturity has short feeding cycle,high feed conversion rate and low production cost.Therefore,the research of broiler precocity and the breeding of precocious breeds(lines)have become one of the important directions in the field of high-quality chicken research.By expounding the characteristics of precocity breeds(lines),discussing the selection basis of precocity of high-quality broilers,precocity inheritance,regulation mechanism of sexual maturity and breeding methods of local representative precocity broilers,this paper summarizes the research progress of precocity breeding of high-quality broilers,and briefly summarizes the problems and countermeasures in precocity of broilers.
