Progress in the Regulation Mechanism of the Brain-Gut Axis in Aquatic Animals
The brain-gut axis(BGA)is composed of two-way communication between the central and intestinal nervous systems. Its regulatory mechanism is very complex, involving the nervous, endocrine, immunnity and digestive systems. At present, the mechanism of BGA in nutrition metabolism of terrestrial animals is relatively clear, and there are many researches on the appetite and intestinal health regulation of aquatic animals.Based on the understanding of the basic composition of BGA,this paper reviews the main regulatory pathways involved in BGA and the potential mechanisms of BGA in aquatic animals,in order to provide new ideas for the research and application of BGA in aquatic animals, achieve the purpose of scientific and efficient breeding, and improve the economic benefits and animal welfare of aquatic animals, promote the efficient and healthy development of aquaculture.
