Advances in the Expression and Role of Circular RNA in the Reproductive Process of Female Livestock
Circular RNA(circRNA)is a type of single-stranded covalently closed circular long chain non-coding RNA molecule produced from linear precursor mRNA through back-splicing,which is involved in the regulation of gene expression in eukaryotes. With the advancement of high-throughput sequencing technology, increasing circRNAs were discovered in the reproductive system of female mammals, but the investigation of the biological function of these circRNAs during reproductive development is still in its infancy. This review focuses on the formation, characteristics, function, and role of circRNAs during female reproduction in livestock, with a view to laying a theoretical foundation for further exploration of the mechanism by which circRNAs regulates female reproductive development.
