Research Progress on Concentrate to Forage Ratio and NFC/NDF in Ruminant Diet
The growth and development of ruminant are affected by the dietary concentrate level. The dietary concentrate to forage ratio and non-fibrous carbohydrate/neutral detergent fiber(NFC/NDF)are two commonly used indicators to reflect the level of dietary concentrates.Appropriate concentrate to forage ratio can improve the performance of ruminant, maintain rumen health, and improve economic benefits. This article reviews the effects of dietary concentrate to forage ratio and NFC/NDF on ruminant production performance, digestion metabolism and product quality,in order to provide reference for the diet formulation and healthy production of ruminant.
