Research Progress on the Biological Functions of Guanidinoacetic Acid and Its Application in Pig Production
Guanidinoacetic acid(GAA)is a precursor of creatine and its phosphorylated derivative phosphocreatine in the body,it has multiple functions such as participating in arginine metabolism, regulating energy metabolism, enhancing antioxidant capacity and regulating glycolysis. As a feed additive in pig production,GAA can promote the growth and development of pigs and improve pork quality. This study mainly summarizes the physical and chemical properties, synthesis and metabolic processes of GAA,as well as its effects on pig growth performance, carcass and meat quality,in order to provide a reference for in-depth research and efficient application of GAA in pig production.
