Research Progress on the Effects of Feeding Modes on Growth Performance,Slaughter Performance, and Rumen Fermentation of Sheep
With the development of the national economy and the upgrading of consumer attitudes, the demand for high protein and low cholesterol lamb by consumers is increasing day by day.The feeding mode will affect the rumen fermentation characteristics and microbial composition of sheep, thereby affecting their growth performance and meat quality. This article discusses the effects of three feeding modes, namely full house feeding, natural grazing, and grazing plus supplementary feeding,on the growth performance, slaughter performance, rumen fermentation parameters, and microbial community of sheep. It explains the effects of limited time grazing plus supplementary feeding on improving the production level and rumen development of meat sheep,in order to provide useful references for the transformation and upgrading of meat sheep breeding technology, production performance, and meat quality improvement in China.
