Progress Research on Connective Tissue of Animal Skeletal Muscle and Its Influence on Meat Quality Traits
Connective tissue is a fundamental tissue widely distributed in animal bodies.It mainly consists of extracellular matrix(ECM)secreted by interstitial cells,such as collagen.It plays various biological functions,including connection,buffering,support,repair,and regulation.Connective tissue plays an important role in skeletal muscle.It provides an important spatial environment for muscle fiber development,repair of injuries,contraction,metabolism,and fat deposition.Additionally,it plays a critical role in the formation of meat quality traits,such as tenderness,in livestock and poultry after slaughter.This review summarizes the research progress on the cellular differentiation origin,existence forms,synthesis,expression regulation,and influencing factors of ECM in skeletal muscle connective tissue.The association between skeletal muscle connective tissue and meat quality traits in livestock and poultry is explored.The aim is to provide scientific references for genetic selection and nutritional regulation studies on meat quality traits in livestock and poultry.
