Physiological Functions of Iron and the Application of Iron Supplements in the Production of Pregnant Sows
Iron is an essential trace element for pregnant sows,and their demand for iron increases significantly during pregnancy.Iron deficiency not only reduces reproductive performance in sows but also affects the early growth and development of piglets,increasing the risk of iron-deficiency anemia.This review summarizes the physiological functions of iron,discusses its impact on the reproductive health of pregnant sows,and provides an overview of the research progress on different iron supplements used in pregnant sows.The aim is to provide theoretical guidance and reference for the rational application of iron in sow production.
